Trees from a distance

From the clues it could be pseudotsuga, which isn't technically a fir; the lower limbs hang out like a Tsuga; it's sparse like a young Larix...
 
It's none of those, guys. This tree is not native to North America, not even close. It is a rare bird here in New England, BARELY cold hardy here. This is a client's property here in RI, apparently being colonized by this tree. I'll give more clues if needed.

Here's one, also from another continent. Our house guests last week (they are from Switzerland) have been driving a LandRover the world over for the past four years... they showed me this one from their 'other-continent' travels.
