Another to guess... same species, different cultivar; bonsai'd since 1991

I can not seem to just "Attach" a picture instead of embedding one... just get an error code that flashes up on the screen for a second...

Anyway, here is a third tree. Name any one and I'll give you the other two... it's nearly Christmas!

The first pic I put up: the tree in question is pretty common; it often goes by a common name which is also used for several different species around the world. Behind it are a Fringe tree and a Serviceberry so the Amelanchior guess was in the picture...

Bingo! Ironwood is used the world over for about 30 species from Acacia to Xanthostemon.

The first is actually Carpinus caroliniana. The 'grove' bonsai is C. laxiflora or "Looseflower". That bonsai is at the Longwood Gardens and if you are ever down this way I always have a membership - the whole place is worth seeing, from majestic stands of trees along the trails to the hall of bonsai in the conservatory. The thorny mess is also in a hot room of the conservatory there and is a Pachypodium lamerai from Madagascar - in the Dogbane family. You're up...
