OK, here's the tree(s)...

The one on the right, and extra credit for the one on the left. Will be out of the office all day but I'll check the phone when I can.

...finally got the attachment to work. What's up with the errors?

Quercus virginiana left and Quercus laurafolia right?

There already is a thread for bowl/wood working under General discussion. I think it is called, "Any fellow wood workers?".

Since the vessel I made was only decorative, I used a spray on semigloss.

Amazing Treezy, you got both of them. Extra credit if you compliment my pruning.

i wanted to take that yaupon down so bad, but the guy's kid liked to climb it.

I've had one bowl turning class...not so good at it and don't have a lathe. But i bring this guy a lot of wood...cherry, maple, American elm...he's gonna teach me. Just gotta find time. Love woodworking though

OK, Nice pruning! Man I didn't think I would get that lucky.

I will try to find a pic later on.

You will get the hang of wood turning. Just remember to sharpen your tool and you can pretty much do any shape with a bowl gouge, parting tool and skew. "Follow the bevel".

Yes, the bowl is maple; simple, strong, utilitarian, but made of a complex material built slowly over a long time (like all good relationships should be) is what i told them.
I used a lathe up the street that belongs to a retired math professor, as mine is in storage.
I am off to Germany today; been nice to hang a bit in this thread. Happy tree profiling!
