Trees from a distance

I was suggesting Q. rubra, but since it's not and you're giving clues, how about Q. ellipsoidalis? I'm not all that familiar with the oaks of S, Carolina, but this one doesn't appear to grow down there. ?

Nope. BTW, you already said Pin Oak.
This one very well could grow in RI. Not sure, though. I always call it Nigra's big brother.

Too many hints? The contestants who are still sleeping this morning are gonna call foul!

Nope and nope. Treezy, you're the closest so far. It's in the Red family and Treezy's got the leaf shape down.

I love a Willow Oak, btw. The big ones get really nice looking.
