Nay. The funny, dry looking twigs are somewhat typical for this tree. It's usually planted, but I believe this one is a rogue. They get big.

No... As far as I know, this is the only truly large member of its genus, the rest are ornamentals or medium sized trees at best.

Tom - what about Magnolia grandiflora? They get huge! At least down south...

That's why I said 'as far as I know.' They don't get that big up here, and really, no magnolia gets nearly as big as the 'cuke.
