Trees from a distance

They are very common around here. Check out the one I posted on the "I Love This Tree" thread (on page 2). They are great urban trees. Excellent air cleaners and tough trees in general.

I'll take a picture of something to post today.
 
I took a look at the Ginkgo tree you posted and was impressed by it's size.

Ginkgo was first introduced here in the U.S. by William Hamilton in 1784. I had no idea that it has been around that long.

I took some cuttings from a small Ginkgo tree that a friend gave me and all of them took.

Here it is again for this page. Hint #1: The tree is in Louisville, KY, a native region border according to the info I can find.

Seems it is my only guess last time and this, ...probably wrong, as bark color looks too dark, branch structure could be correct for it, and leaf distribution might be right:

Is it Fagus?
