Trees from a distance

i don't think the leaves are heart-shaped enough to be redbud and the fruit/flowers don't look right. of course Tom you do live in Asheville right? maybe you have some inside info (:
speaking of which, how's the purple beech tree doing at the Biltmore? last time i went it looked stressed. and I noticed they took down all the big tulip poplars along the entrance.

This is a difficult one, so if no one gets it by tomorrow then arborer can post a pic.

See attachment for answer. I took the picture at the Arboretum near Lake Powhatan. If you ever get a chance to go there they have an experimental forest. Arborer's turn.

Well... I feel like this may be a bit anticlimactic at this point but I'll post it anyhow. After this I'll have to take some new photos if I want to keep guessing.

Wow, the fruit looks nothing like S. japonica. And the whole thing looks like a Parrotia except for the fruit. That was a good one!

I hate that tree now (:

I knew it was to easy. I thought the photo being out of focus would maybe make it a little harder... guess not. Pinus bungeana it is. Tom is up again.
