although I doubt it, the only thing I thought of was siberian elm when I saw it.

Phellodendron.

Maybe a weird one -
P. chinense or sachalinense?

It's not a Phellodendron, but there's one right near this tree. It's pretty similar to P. amurensis, and not really an unusual tree.

No, they don't get nearly this big! The tree in the pic is probably 36" DBH or better, with about an 80' spread. That would be one big Russian olive!

That was my initial thought until I read of one in N.Dakota 45' tall and a 63' spread.

Since this one is losing steam , I'll provide Big Fat Clue #1:

Despite it's tendency to be messy, this tree has gained popularity as a street tree in the last 15 years or so.

Yes, it's a Styphnolobium japonicum, and it's in the same park as the birch, about 1/2 mile away.

Points subtracted for using the old name.
