This is in my own backyard. I've got 3 of 'em this size, 100'ers.

Macrocarpa belongs to the white oak family right? I was looking for lighter barked Oaks whose natural range extended into ontario. Your tree was in a forest setting. Macrocarpa is the northernmost oak. Phila./S.Jersey is south of their range. I've only seen them in local arboretums. There might be one at the Phila. Zoo.

i thought it was salix nigra. But Tom is right. Salix alba. I see a willow on a stream bank that's not weeping and assume native black willow. Was unaware that the white has become so naturalized and is probably as (or more) common along suburban streams as the black. I'm getting a schooling from this thread.
