Trees from a distance

I know it's not that... I gave some clues in my last post.

The problem with Tom's "clues" are they're so vague you can interpret them a million ways, which is the point I'm sure!

So lets see if I got any at all or am totally lost/oblivious:

"young fella" = long-lived tree?
"show some respect" = honoured, reveered (ie: Druids worshipping Oaks?)
"lose the crowd" = clustered terminals, again Oaks?
"in your shoes" = SHUmardii?

Those are all a stretch, but what the hell:

Not Salix or Nyssa. Its a very common genus.

Incredibly common genus and large specimens, I'll say boxelder, acer negundo.

Only now do the clues make sense, but the common genus clue was handy. I'll get something in a bit. Had a frost, snow showers and heavy winds today, whatever it is will probably have wilting leaves, lol.
