Yeah Tom, We have that cultivar all over the place. Heres mine, we just nominated this one for state champ status.

I don't like my first guess. The tree looks like a Cladrastis, but obviously it wouldn't be the state champ at that size, so I'm changing my guess. Just not sure what I'm changing it to yet.

I'm stuck on the trunk, looks terribly familiar but cant put my finger on it. I'm kind of liking the Hornbeam guess.

Well Tom it is a Yellow Wood , and I know It is small for the species . We have removed much larger from campus in the past . For some reason the current state champ is smaller than this one . Go figure

How about a Mulberry? Usually don't see decay like that in them, but the suckers and bark are similar.
