treeflex replacement bridge

hey guys, i just got my treeflex today and noticed the bridge that comes with the saddle is kinda floppy, i knew this was coming because of toms posts, anyways, i have a bit of hrc cordage and i was looking to make another bridge out of it and was wondering what you guys thought about it, im looking to do the same mod on my treeflex as rocks and trees did to his bfll by getting rid of the shackles all together and tieing the new bridge on, captureing the leg loops and belt in the process

how do you feel about the hrc cordage? will it hold up?

thats what i was hoping to hear puclimber, i have about 30 feet of beeline i was thinking about using but its 8mm and i didnt really feel to comfortable using it, did you lock stitch your beeline before you tied your knot?

i got rid of the shackles to cut a little bit of weight, and honestly, i dont enjoy the ears sticking out on them, i was going to switch over to the tab less shackles but realized i could cut weight and money by adding my own rope bridge and capturing the leg straps and belt

honestly, im not a big fan of the bridge the saddle comes with, the sheath is way too lose and i wasnt looking forward to it bunching up on me as reported by other flex users so i just got rid of it before it caused me any problems,

ill work on the avitar for ya tom and ill let ya'll know what i think,

well after some climbing in the treeflex I decided that hrc cordage might not be the best solution. It flattens out pretty bad when weight is applied. I'm thinking of buying some treemotion replacement cordage and making the bridge out of that

I only climbed for a little bit but I honestly wasn't overly pressed. I had a hard time keeping the saddle up and tight. I kept having to pull it up and re tighten. Also, I use a microcender for my lanyard adjuster and the location of the d rings kept the microcender too close to my hip
which would keep the cam open, this happened mutiple
times.

Are the loops. Below the d rings rated for me attach my lanyard their?

Why is the flattening of the cordage a concern? It's actually stronger if it can adjust to the loads being applied to it.

Would you be up for adding velcro onto the adjuster straps so the buckle doesn't slip? I did this on master II and it works like a charm.

hey nick. As far as the flattening goes, the ring I'm using doesnt seem to move as easily from left to right when I shift my weight, my guess is that its because of the flattening of the bridge because I do not have this problem with my treemotion

As far as the Velcro goes I would have to see your application. I don't think I quite understand what you mean. I'm guessing I might have to use the small dynema slings girthhitched around my d ring to give it more distance from my waist. I usually use a twisted clevis but it doesnt seem to be working out for me

Quick note when I opened the box that my saddle came in there was a baileys mailer in it that said the treeflex was now
on
sale for 449.99 which is 30 bucks cheaper than what I just paid. I've yet to call them but thought it was funny that the price dropped 30 bucks before I even put the saddle on

so far no good, but it was a very full bradford and i really only used it for the lanyard, my hips didnt take to the d rings too well, not like the treemotion at least, but im gonna give it more time before i talk high or low about it

FT,

It's very important to have the TF located low where it is supposed to be. After climbing on other harnesses it will feel too low at first. Then you get used to the different support. If you wear it high like other harnesses it will be uncomfortable. YOu can find fitting instructions on the webpage.

I'm still playing around with bridge mods on my BFII. Not a Treeflex I know... but they are bridge mods anyway.

My ultimate plan is to use two 6mm vectran eye-eye bridges in a single Beeline or Velocity jacket... two eyes on each shackle. The vectran in HRC and 8mm Beeline is 6mm. I just can't mentally deal with a single 6mm line as my bridge no matter HOW strong it is. Also, vectran doesn't like to bend sharply.

Right now I don't have any Vectran on me but I do have some 5/16" Technora so I made up a couple of bridges with it. I tried this one out for the last week and its working better than I thought it would. I figured it would be too much stuff in my lap but so far that's not been a factor. It simplfies double crotch tie-ins and keeps them from binding and sideloading. I've decided to keep trying it for a while.

The Velocity jacket works great, slippery smooth, doesn't bind or bunch up at all.

that looks great blink. My problem is that I got rid of my shackles so I wouldn't be able to do what you suggested because I would have to either go back to the shackels or splice the cords around my
webbing

I did try using a prusik cord for my bridge using the shackels but the bridge was longer than the bridge that the saddle came with and I didnt
want to modify what the manufactorer made this early in the game

Hey Chip, I was checking out the specs on those sweet looking rings on your harness and came across the following:

"not intended for repeated lowering"

Considering the use as an attachment point to your harness with pretty constant pressure, I wonder if you might want to try another ring? Oh yeah, and they are rated at 20kn to boot !!! Not trying to be the gear police here, but thought I would mention it.

Those bridges are very nicely done !!!!!

Thank Rich. The Omega ring is a rappel ring I had lying around and slipped it on there when I decided to try out two bridges. The other ring is a replacement friction saver ring I've been using on the harness since I bought it because I didn't like the big ring that came with it. The whole setup was kind of a spontaneous idea, not intended for long term use.

Thanks for the heads up. You gonna be at the Southern Chapter TCC?
