treeflex replacement bridge

so guys, any word on if the soft stiched rings under the metal d rings are rated for lanyard use? this would help a lot so that i can attach my microcender there and hopefully i wont have the problem with it not engaging

chris? tom? you guys out there, your the flex pros, what do ya think

Rich, I'm thinking those rings might be fine. Those rap rings are intended to be used with a rope running through them 100' at a time, weighted. I think doing service as a bridge ring is considered lightweight duty compared to what it's designed for. Who wants to give OP a call to find out for sure?

Blinky, I have a few sizes of vectran I could give you- what size are you looking for?

I like the Double Bridge idea. I might have to give that one a shot!

love

I caught my dbl fishermans knot slipping a little today on my bridge so I'm back to the original shackels and bridge til I figure something else out

I'm liking your idea blinky but my bridge is much smaller than your bfll and I don't think eyes could be
spliced into a rope that small. Unless I'm completely wrong and if thats the case who do I pay to do it

Nick? Blinky?

Marc, I definitely defer to Nick on that question, seems like at some point it would be so short you wouldn't have enough of a bury... unless you went all the way to the opposite side or something.

That would also depend on diameter I suppose.

Nick,
I was thinking two 6mm vectran bridges with crossed over tapers. I'm gonna be ordering some cord here in a day or two, but thanks for the kind offer.

blinky, i was actually looking at your set up as a possability, i like how it looks and i like the idea of having two bridges for double crotching,

nick, im working with some bullcrap stiff webbing, about 8 inches overall length that attach to shackels, i was worried about the burry, and i dont really know what that is, i guessed, ha

im also open to a 1/2inch rope bridge, or two smaller diameter bridges, either or, id rather have two smaller but ill take anything over this webbing bridge, i just cant believe that my dbl fishermens knot started to slip, thats a first for me, im guessing its because the core isnt attached to the rope other than being knoted to it, i was going to lock stitch it but figured there was no need because i was tieing both of them securely to the same object, guess i was wrong

If you mean the gear loops, they are strong but not for life support!

The only places designed for clipping to are the hip Ds and the large sliding ring on the bridge.

I recommend the micro ascender you are using be attached with a short rated sling - this will give good movement, and a place to cut in a rescue if you use a steel cored flipline.

If you post photos of you wearing TFX, I'll be able to see if you have it fitted OK - I'm surprised you don't find it comfy leaning on a flipline???

I don't approve of modifications of course.

I hope that helps.

thanks laz, i climbed yesterday using a small rated sling to hold my microcender and it worked great, it gave me the distance i needed to keep the microcender off of my hip, and i never thought about having something to cut away incase a rescue is needed so thanks for that as well, ill pass it on to my guys

i was on spikes for about an hour yesterday doing a cherry removal and had similar hip pains but i still think its because im not wearing the saddle low enough, also wearing all of these extra clothes doesnt exactly help, im going to go a bit lower with the saddle today to see how she feels, so far i havent been able to do much hanging but im sure thats coming soon

i looks like its raining out so hopefully i dont have to climb
