Transplanting a crooked Maple?

Hi,

I was hoping this site might be able to answer my question. I'm trying to save an awesome 10-12yr old Big Leaf Maple that has to be cut down as our town is removing all trees close to wires.

I have a spot for it, the only problem is that it grew next to aborvite and basically, trapped in a hedge had to grow at a guessing 60-70 degree angle... so the bottom is leaning but the top half is very straight. It's a very perfect looking tree.

Only thing is, what will happen with replanting when you put it on even ground? It'll be leaning hard... can this be fixed to some degree? Can you plant it partially crooked in the ground? Can you stake it? What will happen in the future?

Thank you!

If you need photos I can get them.

You could stake it, but id bet dollars to donuts if you plant it so it leans away from the light, it will curve back and straighten itself in a a growing season or two. Probably one. Super flexy those BLMs

Thx for the reply! What do you mean away from the light? I understand what you're saying , but if it's out in the open isn't it always in the light?

I should add too that along with being crooked, the ground the line of evergreens is on is a foot high mound, and the tree grew on the side... Like a tree on the side of a mountain... Then grew up. As far as flexing.. It's quite a study trunk.... I don't see how it could bend.. But I'm rather new to trees
