Today....

Forgot to get a before picture, 80' dead red oak. Couple of inches of rot all the way around the tree and a back lean towards the garage.

Winched it past the back lean with the mini skid winch and into the woods for a no cleanup.

I left the hinge pretty thick to help pull the canopy past two others trees on either side of this one. we had plenty of pull with a 8000lb winch and a 2:1 to make 16,000lbs of pull

It's been awhile since dealing with a tree that drops limbs while making the cut, I need to get better at looking up. Luckily the only 1 of the 2 that fell made any contact at all and it hit the tip of my bar on the opposite side of the trunk.

Wow! Your work?
No no no, Columbus Zoo does amazing Christmas lights and this year they've gone above and beyond.

Here's one of us about 55' up on a Norway spruce and I hope to get pics tonight as the lighting communities event is tonight.

Here's the park, frozen to start the day of finishing the lights going up. I like to take the lift all the way up to start the day to get that nervous energy a kick in the pants

Those are some amazing lights. Definitely post your work too, I would love to see them. I like to look at Christmas lights, but I don’t like to hang them. I keep thinking about getting into it though, something else to keep the crew busy in the winter.

Nice warmish day here, I was out in shorts and a t-shirt briefly this morning. It got up to around 50 today, it’s down to about 40 now. Glad I’m not the only one who gets a touch of the nerves when the lift is all the way up. Ours goes up over 80’ though, makes for more nerves. I prefer to stay below 60 or so now that I’m getting old.

Nice! One of the things I look forward to this time of year is putting up lights in my outdoor trees. Been thinking about trying to do it as an additional sevice and take on some clients. Never done it in the lift / bucket though only climbed.

Milling has become an integral part of my ankle and leg rehab.

And you’re back into a new pair of boots! They look amazing. How do you think the break-in process will be with your ankle less than 100%? They actually look pretty supple…

It's been a few years since I have worn White's, but they where my boot of choice for decades. White's 55 last has always fit my foot perfectly, so break in has never been a problem. No boot I have ever worn does a better job of locking my heel in place, spreading the load between my heel, arch, ball of the foot, and toes, and has an amazingly stable and wide platform. Just what I need at this point in my life...

Sweet Pete... We need a pic of the cab...

Where do you get your boots from Rico? My latest pair of boots are Westco, but even though they are a size wide my feet still rub on the sides.

Carter's Boots in Bozeman just happened to have the boot I was looking for in my size. Getting an MTO boot from Whites, Nicks, Franks, or Wesco takes 4-5 months these days, so I feel very fortunate to have found these puppies...
