Today....

Finalized most of the cleanup, aside from the final butt log, on these two cedars I pieced down. Hauled millable logs. Mulch much needed for remaining trees.

Solo work, with a mini. High stumps per homeowner request.

Neighbors are retired early from suing multiple people. Their underground power transformer is right at the property line (3' away), at the edge of the dropzone.

Killing some other declining trees, before asphalt on the gravel driveway.

So folks gotta get at least a ring sling, rigging rope, and porty ASAP. Growing to the point where rigging is going to make things much more efficient. So tired of piecing out little branches.

Pic won’t load. Suffice to say what could have been a one cut branch turned into three cuts.

Just don't make a swing out of it and it's quite fine.
I have been known to run several redirects through tiny birch unions when I'm pruning big ones. There really isn't much alternative besides bringing junk up and setting redirects that are cinched on wood and too low to do any good.

It's pretty sturdy, honestly. Not great, but better than really crappy trees like boxelder or willow.

With several redirects it's different.

River birch. Basically have to if you wanna prune them. Did it today. Or string up a couple redirects srt
That is how it is with most of my birch, boxelder and willow prunes. Often I put in a second TIP, particularly on 2 inch stuff.

Beautiful work buddy.
The stumpie pose looks like one of Jed's over at Masterblaster.
Is that a MCRS I'm seeing?

Got into a crazy old log from a tree that had been through some serious fires. Suffered wicked heart rot from the fires but we managed to work around the rot and get some incredible boards. Freaking psychedelic shit!
This is just astounding, how does the grain get that tight! CVG at its best right there. where do I sign up to buy some for a timber frame home build for my family!

It's a jungle out there. Bears, tigers... all manner of foul beast with sharp fangs and razor sharp claws... they could attack at any moment. It's getting to where a guy can't even prune a crabapple tree without risking life and limb.

Luckily, it was only Chairman Meow, this time, checking my work. Still, I could have been maimed.

My old roommate 'Nature Boy' had a indoor house cat named Chairman Meow. Soon as he left on one of his merchant marine trips we let the damn crazy cat out. From then on he'd hunt McDonalds half eaten burgers and lay them on Nature Boy's bed as treats. Only cat that I knew that was crazier, was another roommates cat which would drool all over your face when you slept. Apparently this feline got into a pile of ecstasy in it's former residence.. No wonder we had the scary white van parked across the street and the weird clicks on the phone.

My little brother had a big mutt named Malcom who was a real asshole and generally spent his time kicking the shit out of all the other dogs in the hood. One morning a few buddies showed up with a big sheet of acid so we all decided to bail on school/work for a few days and trip balls. Old Malcom got swept up in the frenzy and had a hit, had the time of his life, and was forever changed for the better!!!!!
