Whats happening at 2.30mins, did you lower that piece from the bucket? I hope not.

I rewinded that part a couple of times. It looked like he might have just pulled the lowering line clear of something below it. Not sure though.

Its almost as if the bucket has a re-direct pulley attached to it, which the lowering line is running through, please God let that not be true.

There is definatley something very unusual going on at 2.31. He does have a block in the stem though. Its all very weird. The bucket and branch move towards the chipper at the same time its so weird.

He used the top of the boom and bucket shaft to swing the load over past the chipper.

Shame Shame!!!

One of the main reasons I wont use a bucket till I see and know how they use it.

After looking at 2:30 again it does seem like that but I believe he broke a branch in another tree when the top came over and was just removing a hanger. We had 3 groundmen and a chipper only 20 ft away so no need for that. I wont say we never do that but not this time.

That was one of my guesses, but it does look strange...probably just the fast motion part of it.

Definitely looked like a bucket assisted redirect at 2:31 in the vid to me, mighty hard on the rotator gear!

Just an opinion of course.

and finishing his cuts with a pole saw.

[/ QUOTE ] wrong ... he used a hydraulic stick saw to be away from the branch for the cut. Ever use one?

I've never used one, but I bet it would be fun on a removal!

[/ QUOTE ] not this time. Can you see the groundman pulling the branch towards the chipper. The bucket never goes under the pully or the rope.
