Doug is an amazing operator, thank your lucky friggin' guardian angel that you have a chance to work with him.

And is Doug as good a tree climber as he is crane operator?
I wouldn't blindly follow anyone’s advice Royce, don’t care who he is. Nothing wrong with asking what other climbers on the forum think about the situation you are about to enter....there's a wealth of knowledge on treebuzz from folks who have been around, and from different backgrounds and work experiences etc
I'm sure your new company will put you at ease about any concerns you might have anyway....they employed you after all and so want to bring the best out of you as you do them.
Justin, regarding the saw thing: I'd gladly ditch the top handle for something with a little more poke. I do use the 390 up there a lot but its quite cumbersome to otherwise move around the tree with. Problem is I have nothing in between that and the 338 top-handle, and am just reluctant to spend the money right now. I can manage with the 338 but will concede its truly pitiful on hardwoods.
