This is the Akimbo

What's up with the interviewer and sign?
That stupid "On the Air" sign took up so much camera space.
They need to ditch it.
I watched Jamie's interview with the Akimbo (awesome).
He looked so uninterested in anything faking oohs and ahs.
He kept looking around as though he was waiting for his lunch to arrive.
Jamie, I would have smacked him upside the head and told him to pay attention, this is the AKIMBO fool.

Any other colors coming?
I was expecting a nice RE red or red and gold.

Use the coupon code "85%OFFAKIMBO" at Hack Tree Outfitters, for the amazing low price of $53 for a shiny new Akimbo (made in China). Better be quick because the offer will only last for another 35, 34, 33 .....seconds.
Fuck I missed it!

Is this the one that Petzl ingeniously engineered with absolutely NO knowledge of the original? Much the same way they came up with a friction device that looks like a wrench??

To be fair, there is also a huge etiquette in rock climbing regarding how things are done. Ie damage to rock, certain hardware not allowed, certain equipment allowed on certain routes

Has it ever made a difference when you showed credentials as an arborist ?

I’ve come into similar situations with parks people when I was using trees as slackline anchors. Showing that i was an arborist and using appropriate protection (padding) for the trees cambium was enough for them to leave me alone. (Responsibility, respect and care, due diligence)
In the four or five various state and county parks, I only had one instance where I got as far as discussing the impact on the trees and assuring the guy I did not spike up a living tree for fun or even own any spikes at all (I am not a professional arborist). Showed him my leather cambium saver. Still no cigar; he would not budge. Rules are rules he said. The other times, they simply would not discuss it at all and one woman even asked me to leave unless I was interested in other activities they allowed. The irony is that at several of these same parks I have repeatedly seen kids free climbing. How is that safer or less impact on the trees? Obviously, rec tree climbing with the correct gear is still so new and obscure to most people that we have an uphill fight building awareness with the various authorities. However, I have our local BLM (Federal) guy almost willing to look the other way regarding climbing on some of the public Federal land here, as long as I am willing to volunteer for clearing dead limbs hanging over trails, etc. Fair enough trade!
