This is the Akimbo

I am waiting for one to come back, sent about a week ago. Is there an obvious difference or "Version 3" on the box.? I am pretty sure I got the #2 but no word from petzl stating it had even been changed.

Now they are making it very clear...you only get 3 year guar.
I sent my number 1 in about a week ago too. I purchased the version 3 (my number 2) when I saw one on sale. There is a definite hump in the link where the typical fracture occurs.
If it is not version 3 that they send to replace the fractured version 2 I just might hate Petzl for a time.
Not sure about a change in warranty, they state in several places that the ZZ has a 10 year warranty. I called and asked and in spite of the return and such saying 3 years, it was and is 10 year. (does not count if you just wear it out)

I think the coolest thing about this new Akimbo is the adjustability and you could likely just slap it on almost any line you have as I have all dif stuff like most do.
For me that is what has kept me from being a real BDB fan, I'm always climbing something different and I need wide range of flexibility to use on different lines. Just the other day I ascender someone else's access line then switched over to mine.

adjustability was very high on my list as far as features. it needs to work on a range of ropes and it needs to be able to switch back and forth between them. im pretty confident ive got the creep nailed down. its amazing how a very small shift of pivot point makes a big difference in performance. also trying out clevis pins in place of bolts. the c clips will be replaced with spiral clips and precision washers.IMG_1767.webp IMG_1768.webp

Really gorgeous

I see this as being another revolutionary tool for the climbing arborist. I really like the size as shown. I really hope this will work for those of us who are the heavy weight division climbers. My offer still stands to beta test for you. E.

IMG_1780.webp A friend over at the treehouse has given me some excellent suggestions. i think the spring is potentially solved, as well as some of the hardware issues. i had no idea aircraft hardware was a thing, and it turns out they make screws with unthreaded shafts! way cheaper and easier to countersink than shoulder bolts or pins. heres pics of the spring assembly. essentially, the nose of the cam sits in the exact spot as the friction pin was previous. the upper roller really didnt do much after i put that pin in anyway. the spring pushes the cam up and keeps the nose in constant contact with the rope. a possible bonus is that if the setting is too far "open" the cam gets pulled up and locks the rope in place. we will see of that is actually a plus or not. i like the idea of some sort of failsafe against that kind of user error. the pin isnt bent btw, i was in a hurry on the drill press :whistle:IMG_1781.webp IMG_1782.webp IMG_1783.webp

Aha! the perfect place to put this, gofundme.com/r2bhtg37. This is to get the funding i need to have the first CNC milled Akimbo run produced and to get some informal testing done on them. I think it is going to be a really sweet tool when it is professionally milled and assembled with quality hardware. Thank you guys for your enthusiasm and support so far!
