This is the Akimbo

I am a bit surprised by these "which rope?" questions or comments. I thought one of the clever innovations of this device is that it is so adjustable, most of the rope selection challenges that mechanicals struggle with would be gone.

Not trying to belittle this very cool device...just surprised and trying to understand.

And I will buy one when available too regardless...
See I like to get a device dialed in to a rope and never touch it again. I have literally never moved the bollards on my bone or my runner. I hate messing with minute adjustments, drives me guano. I like that the akimbo is more easily adjustable, but I still want to set it to work with one or two of my ropes, and never touch that adjustment again.

I get the "late to the party" prize.
A link on facebook led my here and I just finished reading the entire
thread.
Huge congratulations to you Jamie for what you've accomplished to this point.
I'm also very sad I didn't find this before going to the EXPO.....would've loved
to get a look at one in person.
I'm a huge fan of mechanicals and because of their effortless tending.
Sounds like the Akimbo is going to "set the bar" for all the others.
Look forward to getting one for myself at some point.

I keep checking my email every hour waiting for Jamie to say he sending em out[emoji30][emoji30][emoji847]
I also keep checking my email hourly. The supplier for my last part had an equipment breakdown and I'm waiting to hear back from them as to when my parts will be done. In mean time I'm working on assembling all the parts I have. I've never done this many at a time, it's quite a learning experience. But then this whole endeavor has been a big learning experience.

So yesterday I finally was able to put akimbo to the test on a new Cougar Puke. Great combination. Tending was great with less sitback than the runner although every time I slacked the line akimbo would slide down. Quick fix by adjusting the tope eccentric pin and viola, good to go. I was worried with the top arm tighter I'd have drag on ascent but there was no issue. The only think it did was slow me down on bombing out. I'm not that guy anyway so it really doesn't matter. Did dome up and downs and some nice limb walks. Tending on the return was great and there really isn't anything new to say about it that hasn't already been said. I like it a lot. Would probably be my go to for crane work because of the compact size. The bdb is also a good crane tool. There are significant differences between the 2 but they are similar in theory and how the perform. I still love the rope runner once its on the rope. Mines is a few years old and well broken in so its very sensitive. The akimbo is much more forgiving than the bdb and the rr. The only con so far is it's a tad slower. It's no slouch though and could probably be refined by adjustment or rope choice. With cougar where I'm set is maybe too much and one less is too little. I need a mm between the 2 top arm settings.

The one concern I have is how much it hated my used cougar. So does that mean every time I get a little wear on my rope i'll need to replace it? Time will tell. I'm gonna keep it on this rope for a while and see what happens over use. The rope I used yesterday had never been climbed on so the akimbo was it's first.

Overall I'm completely positive about this device. Brillian't design and super sexy bling bling. I've got this till March 1 so i'll keep everyone up to date. We'll atleast the 2 other guys who don't have one. :)))

Merry whatever you are into.

The gray is puke? I like the way it looks, though my blue is my baby. I need an orange to round out my trifecta. I need a wrench rope, a mechanical rope and a whatever the hell else rope.

Back to the akimbo. I want a BDB but man the akimbo and the tantalizing teasing of it being sprung on the market make it hard to choose.
