This is the Akimbo

Just for reference sake, I was at Sherrill's ArbFest West and DMM had a really nice set of double blocks for mechanical advantage that were used in a rigging presentation. I went over to the DMM booth to see how much and when I could buy them. Couldn't nail him down on availability and then he kindly shared that the prototype/display models were first seen in public five years ago. Ok, I guess I won't hold my breath then.

I would guess we're going to be way ahead of the game using that as a benchmark.

I hope it doesn't take that long. I have faith in RE.

well, if you start counting from when i made the first prototype its already been almost two years. the gofundme version should be (fingers crossed) done before the new year. were ahead of the curve if you look at it that way. the commercial version might be as soon as next spring, but going all in and getting CE certified is a big variable. im just as impatient as anyone, but the deeper i get into this the more i realize that its actually moving incredibly fast. i still want it done tomorrow though, its a lot of pressure and id like to move on to watching sweet youtube clips of people rocking this thing!

No, apples to apples comparison would be from the time you showed it for the purpose of people being interested and thinking they wanted to buy it.

I just thought it was an interesting reality check in the product world if DMM could take more than 5 years in this phase of one of their products.

It is a beautiful set of blocks, modular, and you can change out sheaves to different configurations. I will still want a set one day.

Here is the latest update on the Gofundme run. As most if not all of you know, Rock Exotica is making the Rope Runner 2 for treestuff. It turns out that they are also moving their entire facility to a new building through october. that means they wouldnt be able to even start working on parts till november. Rock and i had a discussion about timing and we decided that there is no good reason I cant take the plans and have my local machine shop go ahead and make the parts now. as of right now, parts are being machined! This way I can get this thing going much sooner and i feel there will be no sacrificing of quality. As soon as the parts come in i am sending them back out for anodizing and then i will be assembling into the wee hours of the night. I plan on assembling them in groups of 5 or 10 and shipping them out as i go. this phase of the project is finally moving into the home stretch. Thank you Thank you Thank you for all of your patience. I will post pics as soon as parts arrive!

Wow Jamie, you go above and beyond! That is a lot of work on your part to get these into people's hands... The big picture - The Akimbo will be a reality in the climbing world. This stage of the process will seam so short compared to the life of the product you have created. So short compared to the years and years of service the Akimbo will provide for its users. So short compared to the Legacy of the AKIMBO. Well done. It's worth the wait, and I have to wait even longer.

I guess we could say it is worth its 'wait' in gold! But that doesn't really go along with my point I was just trying to make about it not being a very long wait in perspective to the big picture. I just thought I would "make a funny".

Does this mean we know a price and are taking orders?
