I think it helps to separate the mode, (ascent, work positioning, descent etc) and at least keep them clear when it comes to choosing tools. Maybe a tree has a lot more ascent then positioning, maybe more of the other, maybe getting down is going to be a concern. So choose the tool that suites the mode best. For SRT ascent....if that is your priority....when it comes to multicenders....the one that stays out of the way and does NOTHING may be the choice.You can access trees ddrt using a foot ascender and HAAS or SAKA, and make the climb with your legs, just takes twice as many steps, imo though, so far, limb walking is easier to come back in ddrt, i hate prusik hitches, love mechanical hitches but dont care for the uni much but as of yet is seems to be the best setup for srt, besides a prusick, other options that arent 12" long would be appricated....i like compactness.
