This is the Akimbo

Can I ascend with the RR on a single line with a chest ascender and the haas?
The ISA and it competitions will fall to the wayside in the very near future...

A buddy and I went down to the Charlotte comp a few years ago to compete. I was blown away by that event. They do it proper down there, seems like New Zealand and Australia have the same idea as well. ISA kind of reminds me of a union, always trying to convince their members that they're necessary and relevant.

price: to be determined, but competitive with other devices currently on the market.
Availability date: also unknown. the gofundme donors are first in line, that batch is separate and distinct from what will be the commercial version. there are a lot of hoops to jump, from testing, certifying, to writing a manual and programming tool paths. nothing is going to be rushed, but no one is going to be sitting on their thumbs either.

my first intro to SRT was the hitch hiker fwiw. i think its still the best deal out there for a rock solid tool. you really cant beat how easy the RR tends slack tho

I never liked the LOOK or setup of the HH, coming from a wrenching background...the wrench when dialed is just such a super tool..I need not even mention a runner which for me is nirvana....

I will buy a production akimbo when it releases but no hurry for me as a runner or wrench works too good...my gear junkie days have seemingly passed which is a relief....cannot afford shit these days

Dave I presume you are talking about the friction being able to be dialed at a click and varying rope sizes easily used via this.....if I remember correctly

Yes that. But it is everything else too, like having a bearing roller, tool-less adjustment, on and off the rope with no parts to drop, not even the carabiner, easy modulation and compact form all combined into one sexy tool that make it special.

Hmmm....if RE is going to make the commercial version.....I wonder how hard it would be to incorporate a swivel

It would not be that hard if Jamie and RE decided to have that option. The lower attachment is shape is a basic L so replacing the biner hole with a smaller hole and shackle swivel would be simple enough. I'm not sure how that would affect break testing though, it would certainly effect price whenever that is set. Since not everyone likes a swivel I imagine if offered it might be an optional version or separate parts. I run a swivel on my bridge already by default but guys running rings might like the option.

I've thought about the swivel. I've also thought about an o-ring inside the anchor to hold carabiners snug. The swivel should be very easy to fit aftermarket with a simple bushing in the anchor hole and a shackle style swivel. The 0-ring could be removed for that to work (if in fact there ends up being an 0-ring. A rubber bushing a la dmm works too).

I had originally thought it would be cool if the swivel was incorporated to the attachment point, but the more I think about it, there's a friction point on that L that will need to be swapped for new occasionally....if the wear and tear on the swivel doesn't match that of the friction point, a user would be forced to replace what is now potentially be 2 components instead of 1....maybe it's best to leave it alone. It would be nice if the idea of the addition of a RE shackle pulley were part of the form factor. Make it seem less hobbled together by selling it with an optional specifically shaped L that would interface with the shackle side of the pulley more nicely than a standard 'biner hole.

The rubber grommet/bushing might be a nice removable option too.....add a touch of functionality and an ounce of snazzy.

Am I too late to vote tactical black to match RE's line of swivels? :D

If break testing is a concern with the RE shackle swivel, then the DMM might be the better option, as it has a way to deal with unintended side loading effect.....oh the options and dreams.
