This is the Akimbo

Thank you Tim. your right that i dont want to say who i am negotiating with till the deal is done. i also want to give them a chance to be prepared and up to speed on everything before making an announcement. what i will say is that i agree with you on the quality of rock exoticas gear. as soon as i started to think about the aesthetics of the Akimbo i went straight to the unicender as the high bar to shoot for. of all the gear out there i think it is the most elegant and beautifully made. now, whoever it is that ends up making the Akimbo is more or less taking on a finished design. not much will change (fasteners, markings, etc). my criteria in choosing who will make this has been guided by the question of who can bring it to the largest market of users with the highest quality for a competitive retail price... or whoever gives me a million dollars first ;).

<chanting> ART! ART! ART!

Or rock exotica or dmm (/treemagineers)
They'd be my three favourite hardware manufacturers right now

I should let Jaime speak for himself, but I think the last time estimate I remember seeing for release of the Akimbo was something like "hopefully in 2016". We all need to be patient and allow Jaime to make his way through the process. He'll let us know when it is ready for release.

No offense intended, just trying to pass on the latest information that I am aware of.

At the moment I'm working on a solution to the problem of torque. The lock arms need to be held tight so they don't flop around, but the cams need to be free to move in order to function optimally. Jared suggested a bushing in the cam axles and I think it's an excellent solution. Now I have to update the model and see what tolerances need to change. Also I'm starting to work on markings. Arrows and indicators as to where the rope goes and such. For the first batch, I want them to be special and unique so I have a few cool ideas. Unfortunately my machinist has been really hard to pin down lately. I have to up my game and get to harassing him more aggressively or nothing will get done!

Lol, just one maybe two. Really I just wanted to post pics of my new toy and didn't know where to put it. I have been debating new trucks/vans/trailers for like 10 months now. Finally decided the trailer made the most sense for me. It stores my 3" chipper and works as a chip transportation for now. Long run thought is to have it be my Tree trailer so I can get my empty truck back. That thing is so packed it is all but useless as a truck. It was a shameless high jack of a good thread, lol.

As soon as the blanks get here from mc master I will have them machined and headed to Jamie for torque assessment. I must say this is an amazing device and if the blasted snow would go away I would take it for a climb.

Love it! I've been shooting the chips into the pickup bed... think I'll look on CL for a camper topper so the chips stay in the bed. Chipper is perfect height for this.
That's a great little trailer for these smaller chippers! Mine is 3.5" capacity... looks like it would fit in there nicely.
