THE Charlotte TCC - 2018

This was a great comp !

Five "Charlotte modified events" in the prelim's:
1. Belayed Skillz - speed climb (sort of), w/ a limb toss, plus slack-line, rope-ladder, Auto-belay device, etc.
2. Throw-line - no rope install, 5 min. time (very rapid w/ strategy)
3. Open-Ascent - GUTTS (get up the tree safely)
4. Aerial Rescue
5. Work Climb

60 Registered Climbers ! ! !
However, only 47 participated due to pre-TCC injuries, etc, etc.
70+ Volunteers !

Master's:

1. Johnny Lopez
2. Shaw Welch
3. Doug Ralph
4. Cormac Nagan - DQ, broken branch > 3/4"
5. Brendon Phillips - DQ, broken branch > 3/4"

6. Nicole Benjamin - Demonstration climb

7. Jimmy Prichard - honorable mention (6th prelim place after a 1 pt scoring correction)

This is one of my very favorite competitions !

If the TCC were to become a media friendly event like X Games The Charlotte should be the model

The TCC on Saturday should look a lot like Work on Monday. Charlotte has for years

Johnny in fact used that time very efficiently.
Just as Bend Strasser did at ITCC many years ago, Johnny left his last bit of throw line in the tree for 3 to 4 minutes, while he returned his rope to his cart, stuffed another throw line back into its cube, collected gear, etc.
Then with about 1 min. remaining, he pulled out the throw line to stop time.
