Any of you old dudes heard of a guy called Terry Reid?

He was a mildly famous vocalist/guitarist in the late 60s early 70s who was working as a solo artist at that time.

After the Yardbirds split Jimmy Page offered Terry a singing job for his new band which were going to be called 'The New Yardbirds' later they were known as Led Zeppelin. Reid actually suggested to Page that he try out a Birmingham singer called Robert Plant......and the rest is history.

Reid turned down Page's offer due to touring commitments with the Rolling Stones on their US tour.

Anyway...here's he is performing at Glastonbury in 1971, skip to 2.25 on the vid to see just how good a singer he was.

Lately....the Raconteurs have covered some of his songs and he's been sighted as a big influence on Jack White of the White Stripes.

Been listening to Jeff Beck recently, Freeway Jam is a cool tune.

Heard of terry Reid but never got a chance to listen, good music, great vocals.
