Sycamore - what about this - what and why

This is a small sycamore in north georgia - i spotted while out bike riding. the bark is great. but i see what looks like odd shaped branch collars but no old wounds.

could they be old cuts?

any idea? i have larger picture and if needed i can get more

thanks

may have been branch or twig stubs at one time or just plain old meristematic points where the tissue kept dividing and dividing for some reason.

Benign tree cancer?

CODIT
Typical of Platinus occidentalis (sycamore)

What is of concern to me as an Arborist is, Anthracnose. Look for a white dusting on the leaves, premature leaf drop (and then rapid regrowth). The leaves will curl on the margins and then die.

No real definitive treatment, but cultural controls work well if done every year

They look like sealed over pruning cuts or broken branch stubs to me.

I agree. I've seen lots of these growths on sycamores and they are dead stubs that have been closed over. Often there will still be dead wood sticking out of the growth.
