Stihl 056 AV

I have a Stihl 056 AV that I never use. Was wondering what it is worth. It is in good shape and runs great. I lost the air cover.

I found one recently here in one of the pawn shops. It looked to be in really good shape like it was hardly used. The price tag was around $300. I didn't know if that was a good buy or not. I passed on it.

Wow, they're a beast! I recall back in the day I used one when I worked as a grunt. Seemed heavy to me then, but it mowed effortlessly through the wood without bogging down. I'm thinking depending on condition, one can still sell in the upper $300 range.

stubcat, I think you missed a good deal. For that price/condition you could have bought it and only gained money after you resold it.

The 056 was a real mussel saw in its day. I went through 4 of them in the woods. Power to weight ratio of the 056 surpassed all previous models in its class, but the isolastic mounts in the saw were weak... and I spent far too many of my weekends replacing the mounts.

On the stump you could really lean into them. Love/hate relationship.

The mount issues disappeared when the 044 and 066 came on. Never had to spend another weekend replacing a mount after.

Stihl has done a good job. Their professional saws are the best your dollars can buy.

Just my opinion
