What company makes durable rope bags that have stiffeners to keep them upright and open during rope flaking?

New Tribe has always made good bags! There are lots of others out there that aren't stiff or they wear out/fall apart. That's a waste of resources!

What are you using for rope bags? Nothing fancy...no pockets...daisy chains...attachments...just bags!

Tom if your going for the not wasting resources route then find a 30 gallon or less plastic trash can and attach 2 old book bag straps to it,I used that for a couple years and it worked awesome.I currently use a metolius Mescaulito haul pack and love it.Super stout and it stands up easily to flake rope.

Here is that bag I PM'ed you about Tom. Made by Buckingham.

I use the rope boss bag too. Not impressed exactly, but not P Oed either. I have been told the Metolius bags are the Balls.

Happy Birthday Treeswinger!

I have the large ropeboss bag, the deluxe version I believe, and it works well enough for me. The seams by the vent flaps on each side have both ripped pretty far though, one day I'll get around to stitching it up.

I have been in search of a sturdy duffle type bag to fit my saddle and "goodies" in... I have heard good things about the Metolius demon duffle, is this the way to go? Do you guys know of any durable duffle bags, reasonable priced?

Definitely nothing from Sherrill. Nothing but garbage and bad service from them.

What about the cheap popup leaf buckets?

I have been so disappointed with spending lots of money and getting terrible product that I have regressed to coiling rope and throwing in my gear bag.

Bags blah!Only good bag is a handbag keeps your ole lady smelling for a bit till she wants a new one.I use a brush trap from wesspur.like $38 has handles don't have to worry about someone knocking it over.Take your rope off use it to haul brush then lay your rope on it fold it up carabiner it closed by the handles.More you use it faster you get at folding it..good luck keep the chips flying stay safe

Funny, I think it was you, Tom Dunlap, who got me to start using Goodwill as my rope bag supplier.

I have a really sweet Batman rolly suitcase for my crane work 120' Vortex, and a bunch of really big rollies for my loop slings and chains, etc.

Won't make the switch entirely, since I need a bunch of bags that are rigid but can fit into a small space. For that I use the Weaver bags with the spring - I fit 200' of 1/2" dynasorb it one of those.

Otherwise, Melolius for my 200' Sterling HTP. The rest of mine are floppy or falling apart and need a smart replacement.

Rope Boss are poorly constructed and the new version uses stays that are too thin to stiffen the bag. The handle tore out and the draw top seams have split. The design just lacked any foresight into where stress points would be (like the handle attachment point!) and no reinforcement where needed.

My MEC gear bag is bombproof. It's still as solid as the day I bought it 6 years ago. I'm thinking of getting their rop bag.

Bags are great for throwing out of a tree, but for ground ropes nothing beats this baby for standability, weatherproofness, stackability, and it's just plain cheap.

The six compartment organizer/seat/lid is neat too.
