SRT rope walking

how many of you like to keep your ascender on the same side as your foot loop? my current set up is pantin on my left foot, CMI ascender and footloop on my right side and tether to my bridge and finally a hitch on my center ring. i know SRT is all about personal preference and comfort but i also dont want get an injury from bad form and strain. does anyone else find it more comfortable to have the ascender and loop on the same side?

Having your rig sized right is the key to efficiency. That equals proper ergonomics too. Dialing a length to within a quarter inch has made a difference to me. making sure that you don't get 'gear-lock' is important too.

changing up going with left or right setups gives better muscle memory. Makes you a stronger climber too.

I always set up with my loop foot on the same side as the ascender handle (left in my case).I think it's more in sync with your brain/muscle wiring, when you're pulling with the hand on the ascender handle side, your same side leg is pushing on the footloop. If you have a double handled ascender it gives you more flexibility to switch sides and balance things out over time. However... personally once I've established one side or the other, I tend to stay there, it feels very awkward to switch. Kind of like trying to force yourself to be ambidextrous throwing a baseball, doesn't work that well, even it makes sense theoretically to prevent "one-sidedness".

I have both left and rights of each and switch it up all the time.

Its fun, like pattin your head and rubbing your belly.
