What's foorlocking? Sounds innovative, I'd like to try it.

Butch sent me link to a spellcheck program.
Sometimes I forget to use it.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Jesse,

Before I got my Treeflex I modified my BFII to handle a chest ascender.

In the picture you'll see that I used a short sewn runner and a sliding double fisherman's loop tied from New England Tech Cord. Using this setup worked pretty good because it pulled the chest ascender to one side since each loop is different length.

This setup worked pretty well considering it was cobbled together. MY TF is so much more comfortable :)

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Tom every one over looks the Buckingham Master Saddle. Its set up perfect for srt. And a bridge can be added if thats how you like to climb.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

I have been using the SRT for awhile now.

I feel like I may still be holding a bit too much tension in my upper arms and shoulders in order to maintain an upright position. Is this just normal? Or am I still "off" somewhere?

My setup is pretty much just like Laz' except I am using an the Sequoia SRT, Petzl upper and lower and croll in the middle.

Countryboy,

I'm not familiar with that harness. Can you post pics of your setup in action so that we can see how you have it configured?

Dave,

Have you tried adjusting the lengths of the tethers? I've found quarter inch increments can make a huge difference in some places. Even using a short screwlink in place of a biner to shorten a connection or reposition a component.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Tom, I'll try fiddling with the tether adjustments but that should just affect the evenness of the motion of the stride not the balance (?). What it feels like is the croll still wants to pull away from my chest. I have it attached to my saddle with a carabiner and can probably shorten the attachment by using a delta link. That might help?

Thanks for your help.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Hey DSMc, I am trying to figure this out as well.
Do you have the top of the croll hooked to yourself?
I ended up using my arborwear belt and hung it around my neck. Now it sits nice and center on my chest.
I will post a vid once I am out of my post palm funk.

"I ended up using my arborwear belt and hung it around my neck."

Sounds like a 'hanging' in progress! No thank you to climbing gear around my neck.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Yes I do. I use the Torse Ascender strap for attaching the top of the croll.

and then from the croll, where does this strap attach?
I surely dont want to hang myself.
I am not sure how it could happen since the croll is attactched to the extra Ds on my tree motion from the bottom.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

perhaps this is too steep a gradient for me.
anyone wanna buy a croll?

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Jesse,

Don't give up on SRT yet! You'll get it sorted and then you'll wonder how you got along without it.

Here's a neck lanyard made from some bungie cord and webbing.

If it ever snagged the stretch would eliminate choking. The toggles allow for adjustment. Also, in a worst case snag situation the toggles would allow the bungie to slip off. I realize that there would be a heck of a snap back though.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Dear gearpusher...its your fault for not carrying the dang strap and forcing me to potentialy affixiate myself with my belt. And another thing...who runs an arborist supply with an indoor falsecrotch to climb off of that isnt even functional?
Your parking lot is too small.
Tim Johnson is too crabby.
There is no water cooler in the lobby.

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

I too use the Torse Ascender strap for attaching the top of the croll to my saddle via a HMS biner.

I haven't ran into any issues with the croll pulling away from my chest. I climb in the TreeFlex saddle which was especially designed for this setup with SRT and works great.

With the saddle positioned correctly there are no issues for me. I would suggest as Tom says, to try and make small adjustments to the tethers and see what happens, and don't give up on SRT!

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Chris, For your ascent, how tight is the Torse adjusted? Mine works fairly well if I have it adjusted tightly. But I see in Tom's and others' setups with shock cord and know that they can't possibly be tightened as much.

I realize that the Tree Flex is a superior saddle but the SRT was also designed for this procedure and, therefore, should work. I have tried many new techniques over the last several years, many of which I do not incorporate after trying them out. So I have become cautious about buying top dollar equipment until I am satisfied that it is something I am going to use.

I can tell the single rope technique is going to be fantastic, I just need to get these glitches worked out.

If the line is set where it is close to the trunk and I can touch my toes to the trunk, I feel like I can fly up the rope with little effort, because it keeps me upright. But in free air, I hold a fair amount of tension in my upper torso to maintain the upright position.

Is this normal?

Re: SRT how do you set your\'s up?

Can you have someone take side-on pics of you on rope Dave? Just at ground level. Both free hanging and close to the tree like you'd b e front pointing.

Get details of what your setup looks like with you on a tensioned rope. Doing some cropping of the pics is always helpful.
