Spyder Jack Anyone?

The mechanical hitch seems like a really good idea however, if the release is anything like a grillon, there is a very very distinct release point and anything after that seems to be rather fast descending.

Any news on if the SJ is worth the $395 in efficiency of use compared to the standard eye to eye? Just seems like a huge investment on metal parts that have wear that is much more expensive compared to a piece of rope.

Im sure that people said the same thing about the Lockjack(or sportjack)..... it is just like any other piece of hardware or software, there is a time and a place for it, and there are limitations to each one.
i know alot of people that have had trouble with their friction hitches... if you don't dress them properly then you might just have a fast ride down.... if you pull on the wrong side of the rope in a LJ you will fall till you release it(did that last week.... 3 feet)..... its all about knowing gear and yourself and the limitations of each...
I have been climbing on a LJ for almost 2 years and have never replaced the cam(it might be coming up soon). How many split tails might i have gone through in that time? did i mention that i have climbed in 8 comps. on my LJ.... I used to go through a split tail every comp.

so if you add up the cost of each, then i think that i have done pretty well. Plus a replacement cam is only 35 bucks... that should get me another 2 years.... oh wait i am going to buy a SJ (i also just bought a Tree Motion)

so much for saving money... OK you caught me, I like the Bling

Rob, did you end up getting the SJ?

I am still curious about one for myself.

Anyone else out there get one yet?
