Spurs

I have an employee that's a little on the small size(4 foot 10 inch tall)....I'm trying to get him Spurs he'll be comfortable in....a lot of climbing gear is one size fits all(which he's been too small for)....any recommendations on what I should get him?..thanks

Nothing I know of will work without some modification on your end. Something like a Klein could have holes added and the extra length removed to lower the cuff height. If he is seriously considering a life of tree work though, I would probably look at having a custom set made to fit his leg length.

Not picking on your guy at all but you may have to Google or E-bay Childrens Spurs. Maybe they are more commonthan we would think.

I wear climb rights with those pads and they do adjust pretty short. And Ill cosign the comfort level, although ive heard people say otherwise. But they might be taller men then I......

Doesn't @oceans have a small pair of spikes?
I do, Colb. They're Antal Axess Climbers, which I'm really liking. Nothing super fancy with exotic materials, but just a really thoughtful overall design and great profile where the frame passes under the foot.

They would most likely have the right shape to keep a smaller foot in place, and prevent slipping around from left to right. This is more than half the battle for long term comfort. The spur is also a good length, unless you get into leather standing dead with thick bark plates. That's the only time the spur length could be longer IMO. Otherwise you feel nice without torquing on your knees.

@Gorilla, I can get a measurement of the shortest adjustment if you'd like.

Of course he does! He's so short, he needs something for his tiny feet

BTW I can poke fun, being firmly in the 4' 20" camp
Tony, I'm actually 4' 28" the last time I checked. ;) Still can't figure how I'm so high on the ape index and have these tiny feet and hands...

Aaaiiight, all silly jokes aside ;), I took some photos of the spike adjustability.

The overall shank length is 12.5" from where your foot sits to the top. In the lowest leg pad position, the total unit length is 13.5".

Antec suggests the leg pad be attached by all 3 screws, so this was a concern when I bought them. I could attain a traditional height (2 finger width below my knee joint) with the pads secured by only 2 screws. I decided to follow recommendations and run them "short" for me with all 3 screws as you see in the photo. They worked absolutely mint and I can't imagine going back to anything else.

@Gorilla , these should well adjust to your climber's needs at the shortest 13.5" overall length, and the foot profile will be great as well. Best of luck!
