special order bushing for rope wrench

[ QUOTE ]
The Rope wrench is more about weight distribution than it is about friction.

Can you explain this? Isnt weight distribution is directly impacted by how much friction can be applied between the two components in the system? If there is no friction weight can not be distributed to that device? Thanks

It is suprising that the sheaves work while both are allowed to rotate. My thinking is that as long as there is some grip on the tail, the rope is forced to do an S turn through the wrench, and that in itself creates a bight on the rope which bears substantial weight. IMHO

latest dogbone RW

Here is my latest effort at a mid-line RW. I am hoping Caleb will give it a test.

Re: latest dogbone RW

Gordon, Looks like a neat compact design. Ill get some climb time in nxt wk on your OAR device. Its snug getting 11.7 velocity in there. Ill try it on the 11mm P-Ivy. Hey nice hitch climber pulley. You need some e-to-e prussic for that?

Re: latest dogbone RW

Well...., Treezybreeze lent me an e-to-e which I had for a month or so, but I recently misplaced it. I believe it was OP, if you are offering, I need to replace his !

In my experience the OAR works best on Tachyon, not so well on the Ivy. I have been experimenting with small sheaves in the OAR, instead of the small rollers. The hitch climber pulley is beautiful, Thanks : )

Re: latest dogbone RW

I haven't spent more than five minutes climbing on a RW so I may be concerned about nothing. It's shape and location between the body and the tree worried me with getting it in the face or neck. If the device could be inside a round shell I'd get one because the benifits of srt are obvious as are hitch performance over mechanical.

Re: latest dogbone RW

I think your concern is legitimate, and it would be safer to be as light and short as possible. I suppose a small rubber ball with a slot cut into it could be fastened to the tether end of the RW.

Re: latest dogbone RW

Here a few pics of original dogbone. With 11mm p-ivy the bone works well. I like the bone style because of no small removable pin to loose. Have pin tied on with throw line for rope wrench. Less parts to loose if parts are fixed.
