special order bushing for rope wrench

Ok, here are the bushings. I had to go with a commercial machinist who went way over the estimate :(
This material is aluminum bronze and very wear resistant. I had a dozen made and my cost ended up being just over $20 for each sheave bushing. On the plus side they are beautiful and work great with my rope wrench. If you all are still interested at this price, (I will honor the original price for any who may have already sent payment), Just send me a PM and I will send them out upon payment of 20 each sheave plus 5 dollar shipping.

Do they work with the pins? Also why so many holes in your rope wrench? 20 bucks is a lot for one bushing. They look really nice though.

Yes, they will work with the 5/16" quick release pin.

As for the holes, I like to experiment.

They look really nice, surveyor. Hopefully oceans has ordered some as I asked him to send me one, sweet. Should make that awful bend radius go away. Swing.

Thanks Chris.

I tried the RW with the top sheave held, and then with it rotating and it seemed to perform just the same either way. I also tried it with a sheave both top and bottom, super sweet. The bottom sheave is clamped in place with a 5/16" bolt and lock nut

Say TreesyBreeze, I have been trying this arrangement out, where both sheaves can rotate and it works suprisingly well. If you are not too busy, would you like to give it a try also? Gordon

My solution to the midline pin and bushing. I had this cut from a piece of stainless last week. Very simple and installed on the stationary pin.

Put back together. This way I can not loose it when Im putting the RW on in the tree. Also little chance of loosing the slik pin cause I dont have to take it all the way out to get the bushing on. The friction is about the same as unmodified RW.

Hey squirrel, can you resize your pics, they are a bit too large.

Sorry, I resized them in the original posts. I didnt think the cell phone took that large of a picture. Guess I was wrong.

I really like the QR pin you are using. The roller bushing on the bottom friction point seems to work well in my experience also. Here is a pic of the latest Dogbone prototype. No loose pieces at all.

That's a nice looking device. The bushing on the bottom friction point does not roll. I had it cut a hair longer then the friction surface of the bolt so when installed the side plates pinch it in place. The qr pin is a tree stuff special. No dropping things either

I tried Surveyor's modded Rope wrench out today and I must say that is is very smooth! Both bushings turn and it still takes enough of my weight to make the hitch run like normal.

In the long run I think Surveyor's modification will make the climbing line last longer as there is less friction, the rope doesn't flatten out and the concave bushings keep the wrench aligned properly.

I will let you know more after I have climbed on it more.
