I suspect that I'm not going to make much of a difference to a guy who's writing from one post to the next takes about three hours, and any "improvement" is there in black and white for everybody to see.
I stepped into this thread in agreement with Mario about some new considerations in repairing certain kinds of bark damage. I explained my perspective in perhaps too much detail and bored some people, but you seemed intrigued about the discussion and wrote about what you thought was meaningful in the posts.
I agreed with you, but the post I intended to write supporting you wandered off into the great garbage dump of the Internet. You posted a snooze avatar, which was apparently interpreted by others and myself as putting readers to sleep. That's fine, it's a fair criticism if you feel that way; I ought to be better disciplined in the lenghts of what I write--sometimes.
But your latest binary posting is sad. You took the time to alter the spelling to get you past the automatic censors, so there's some justification in me thinking that you meant exactly what you said.
Since you seem preoccupied with my mumbles about voice recognition, it occurred to me that you don't know what it is. Voice recognition does not pronounce anything, it takes the words I speak into a microphone and translates them into written text.
I use a voice recognition system because I'm not a typist and now have a difficult time with the screen. That is none of your business. I refer to this system many times because it does alter my writing often enough to force me to personally spellcheck everything. Every word it produces is an actual word, so ordinary spellcheckers don't flag them at all.
Once in a while however, it produces things are very funny or whimsical in addition to screwing up my grammar with an apparent lack of attention for typos. I once sent out an e-mail that I didn't correct it all because it was so funny. That's my business.
I don't know what started your rants, and I don't really have any trouble in coming and getting it, because I love words and enjoy the battles. Just next time however, let's go to the non-tree forum and make fools of ourselves without unsettling the people who would like to learn something here.
If you want to contact me in a private message that's fine as well. I also apologize here because I hadn't realized that I was getting private messages until very recently and so I didn't respond to those authors. I'll make up for that.
Let me merciifully close by taking us back to Sean's comments:
Not sure why Bobs post should put anyone to sleep faster than other posts you might pick at random...I guess wordsmithery is like glass blowing in that some marvel at the skill in turning what seems to be a liquid into what seems to be a solid, whilst others just want to smash the end product for the noise and impact.
I fall into both camps to be fair
I thought he had intervened with an interesting and somewhat noble metaphor of glassblowing as an art. I do think of myself as a wordsmith and intend to keep trying to improve that art.
Right now however, you and I are simply engaged in the more earthy arena of grunting and--gas blowing as a fart.
Maybe we could think of it as a beginning example of de-metaphorization...
