I suspect that I'm not going to make much of a difference to a guy who's writing from one post to the next takes about three hours, and any "improvement" is there in black and white for everybody to see.

I stepped into this thread in agreement with Mario about some new considerations in repairing certain kinds of bark damage. I explained my perspective in perhaps too much detail and bored some people, but you seemed intrigued about the discussion and wrote about what you thought was meaningful in the posts.

I agreed with you, but the post I intended to write supporting you wandered off into the great garbage dump of the Internet. You posted a snooze avatar, which was apparently interpreted by others and myself as putting readers to sleep. That's fine, it's a fair criticism if you feel that way; I ought to be better disciplined in the lenghts of what I write--sometimes.

But your latest binary posting is sad. You took the time to alter the spelling to get you past the automatic censors, so there's some justification in me thinking that you meant exactly what you said.

Since you seem preoccupied with my mumbles about voice recognition, it occurred to me that you don't know what it is. Voice recognition does not pronounce anything, it takes the words I speak into a microphone and translates them into written text.

I use a voice recognition system because I'm not a typist and now have a difficult time with the screen. That is none of your business. I refer to this system many times because it does alter my writing often enough to force me to personally spellcheck everything. Every word it produces is an actual word, so ordinary spellcheckers don't flag them at all.

Once in a while however, it produces things are very funny or whimsical in addition to screwing up my grammar with an apparent lack of attention for typos. I once sent out an e-mail that I didn't correct it all because it was so funny. That's my business.

I don't know what started your rants, and I don't really have any trouble in coming and getting it, because I love words and enjoy the battles. Just next time however, let's go to the non-tree forum and make fools of ourselves without unsettling the people who would like to learn something here.

If you want to contact me in a private message that's fine as well. I also apologize here because I hadn't realized that I was getting private messages until very recently and so I didn't respond to those authors. I'll make up for that.

Let me merciifully close by taking us back to Sean's comments:

Not sure why Bobs post should put anyone to sleep faster than other posts you might pick at random...I guess wordsmithery is like glass blowing in that some marvel at the skill in turning what seems to be a liquid into what seems to be a solid, whilst others just want to smash the end product for the noise and impact.

I fall into both camps to be fair

I thought he had intervened with an interesting and somewhat noble metaphor of glassblowing as an art. I do think of myself as a wordsmith and intend to keep trying to improve that art.

Right now however, you and I are simply engaged in the more earthy arena of grunting and--gas blowing as a fart.

Maybe we could think of it as a beginning example of de-metaphorization...

My mistake...sorry X.

You guys respond way to quickly for me, and i can understand how it might get frustrating when you are in full flow...I really enjoy these kinds of threads I find its like watching stones being skipped on a pond and being surprised by the beauty in the pattern of the ripples as they rebound of objeccts in the pond that were hardly visible before the stone was cast onto the surface. (Ok enough with the analogies! I like the thoughts that are put out there...thankyou)

Bob Wulkowicz,

I got on here this morning to delete my late night posts, but I see you have imbedded them in your response post, so I doubt I can erase it now. I'm sure that was the intent, as I have decided to delete posts in the past that were not acceptable conduct.

I was going to delete it because it does not follow the "rules" of this site. We are supposed to not "attack" each other. We can disagree all we want, but no name calling. Which I kinda did. Although, I did not say, "YOU are an a-- ----." I just asked how does that sound. I thought voice recognition worked both ways and the software would also read text out loud. (which was funny to me last night).

The reason I have not been happy with you, is because I was trying to discuss things with you and it seemed to me you were ignoring anything I said or asked about. I figured you knew more about cambium and cell biology in trees than I, so I was excited to learn some things here. When it looked to me like you were completely ignoring anything I posted, I got slightly angry. There wasn't a smily that showed a figure rapping his fingers waiting, or i would have used that. I already explanined the

, it was because i was getting tired of you not responding to anything I posted.

So add the angry (internet angry, not true angry) and 8 beers last night (Saturday night) after a very long hard week of work, and you get the posts that I put up last night.

Sorry (kinda) for the outburst.

I never saw this post from you before. Wow, you did respond. I must have skipped over it before. Wow.

Sorry.

Well, XMan,

I was just about to write your response when my body pointed out to me it was 2:30 in the morning, so I did exactly what you said:
zzz.gif

That, XMan, was the first line of a completely finished post I had written to you. The problem was just before I submitted it, I went to check on the definition of a word, which meant the buzz board forum cruncher wouldn't return me to that page, and sent me off to Lala land telling me it was sorry it couldn't help me.

The post was informative, funny, insightful, and as you all like, a tad sarcastic. I was really pierced--see, my voice recognition system doesn't like me to say pissed.

I did have the sense that you were impatient, which I understand very well, because when someone has some new ideas, generally they are excited to work them out a bit further.

So I now have a sign above my screen that says, Save it, Bozo--which probably won't work because my ability to be a bozo, extends well beyond my ability to remember I'm a bozo.

I also devoted part of the peace to complement you all on what you had written. And as you can see, I'm not going back to correct misspellings and typos because I'm fairly sure my machine is engaged in a sneaky conspiracy with forum engines.

So when I'm less grouchy, I'll put it together again --and if I can leave a word of wisdom for the moment, it would be, “Never underestimate those parenchyma cells", and remember, they learned how to morph long before science-fiction flicks.

Bob Wolfowitz or some such guy.
