Slipped Rap Anchor Vid

Well it ain't like he's gonna die. I'm sure it's only used for the simplest of belays. Cool trick, Nickster!

Every click a different pic!

When I click on the link, it goes to a sappy piece of shat song with a crappy slideshow of tear-jerking photos designed by a freaking cheerleader.

What the hell.

Well, I finally watched the video..

It's a nice trick, but I agree with you John, if that rope slipped out when his back is turned to the tree, who knows what could happen?

I usually create a second TIP for that, but I like Nick's technique. I don't see anything wrong with it. It is what it is. Something quick to return back to the trunk after a limb walk. If, you think it would slip, then put in a longer tail.

2 thumbs up Nick.

In his book, Tom Martin ties an overhand knot in the end of the line. This gives a little more for the load to bite down on, but also increases the chance of getting it stuck.

Sorry about the music vid! I must've accidently copied the link to one of the youtube vids along the side. Notice that song was called "slipped away" or something like that? Whoops!

love

Interesting Nick, but if you're pulling the tail up to you anyway why not just pass it around the limb and terminate it to your harness? Doubled rope now. Belay with your hand or clip-in a Munter if needed. Uses twice the rope, but it's secure and won't get stuck.

Looks good to me Bro,, when your down here helping us w/the cable work you can show the guys your little trick. Also can you bring your spicing kit ? One of guys cut his rope for a sm FC rope,, I'll be going up to Canada for a wk to help and observe on a speed line project also if all works out this coming August iam looking at a project out in the Amazon rain forest canopy tree walk..

Thanks for the link.

Seems good with an appropriately rough bark. Experiment with a clear swing area.

On smoother bark, the termination back to the harness, or just having enough rope doubled-back to get to plumb of the TIP, would work well. Using a double-rope/ two-strand munter hitch, or hand-over hand lower out, then pulling the rope through the crotch, unloaded of your body weight, should be pretty protective of the bark.
