Hope this helps along with Sam’s instructions, the four bundles are then rebraided to form a round result, some braiding types give a flat braid.

Yupp. Where it looks whipped i taped it then removed the tape when done.
The core was 12 strand. 12 strand round braid is very easy. I didn't bundle mine, not sure what the strength diff would be if any
 
Will need to look into the 12 std rd braid, the method I know is a bit tedious. I use a double constrictor knot instead of whipping.
 
Owned by Echo, now. I still have one of their commercial trimmers (still runs great, but weak compared to the Echo ones). I've never had one of their chainsaws.
 
Those 2' long electrical nylon cable ties also work well. Cut to length and sand the cut ends smooth, rounded over. Your SS cable is probably a lot more likely to last longer. I figure the nylon will last as long as the rope, but I like the SS cable idea... nice work!
