Show off them splices

I have a vhs tape, the dvds were new and too expensive at the time I bought. I’ve never seen any of it online.
You’re right about that video, he was doing the wrong leg of the eye, and twisting the cover! The use of the awl is from Brion also, if you’re careful it does work, espescially if you happen to snag the core while burying the core.

VHS tape, what's that? Is that for measuring out fid lengths or something? [emoji6]

Looks like SkyGear found something.. imma go take a peek at it.. I'm curious how that awl thing is supposed to be correctly implemented.. I'm assuming because he was originally pushing the slack in the wrong direction, the trick was also done incorrectly? Or did he have the awl trick right & just the the slack to the wrong side? I'm trying to Invision what's happening inside.. However i can't see how the awl thing would work if everything is stiched 2inches away from it.. I'll have to think harder on this one i think..

Ahhhh man! What a tease! Thats a link to purchase them, not view them.. @$100 bucks too..!!
Shit.. i just spent the $45-50 on the dang Tree-U videos & didnt walk away with anything but one simple trick & ton of unanswered questions. A trick i actually already knew, but only had it confirmed to be ok by seeing it promoted in the video.. & questions i thought would surley be answered in there after seeing them before purchasing if it was just basic splicing.. Basically, it was nothing exclusive you can't get on dedicated YT channels for free.

Although I've always wanted to attend a class (& still do), this is always my concern. @200+ for a class how much is going to be 101.

If the awl is used on the correct side of the eye, it pulls the buried core back up into the eye. Milking the eye from the crossover around to the throat, and then pulling on the eye to remove the slack will do the same thing.

What do you mean what’s vhs, I’m guessing you probably don’t have an eight track player bolted under your dash either?

So yeah.. besides hunting for old video content of Biron online, i did find a wicked hard to see photo copied PDF of his Wand instructions. It shows the awl trick.. what's funny is, here i am trying to figure out what the deal with it is & all along it's something I've done a hundred times..

Hahaha! Nope... I recently "upgraded" to some new cutting edge tech... a.. 6!!! DISK!!! CD!!! Player!!! The salesman told me the ladies would real be impressed!

Hey.. do you remember those Gleistein Eye to Eyes i was asking about awhile back? Well, i just noticed they make an endless loop as well out of the same cover.. It's called Inco-O & it's marketed as being the only Loop that's "CE certified without any stitching".. I sent a note to a Gleistein vendor here stateside to try to get some info on the cordage or cover used with them.. I'm very curious about them, at the very least the E2E's have to be pretty dang flexible if there's no core riding in the splice.. & if they are made the way i think they are, i can't see how stronger, dual carrier, aramid/poly covers couldnt be done the same way.
I think the reason we don't see them here is because the CE rating they get may be a bit lower than ANZI ratings we tend to go by, as i noticed they are only 22kn..(but is that really all that low). Idk.. Idk.. Im not sure why i have a hardon for them, i just think they might be a good alternative to the unuseable section of typical hand spliced eyes & the bulk of a sewn.. It may be a decent trade off if it's not too squishy or binding..

Right on.. i gotchya.. good idea on the stitching for sure..

Along the lines of what you did.. i sometimes see deals on small diameter Vectran i get tempted to mess around with adding covers, to try & make something like bee-line or those smaller Teufelberger vectran loop thimble setups... but i look into what the covers cost on sailing sites & it blows my mind.. $2-$3 pr ft.. Maybe im just looking in the wrong places.. Probably best for me to just leave the idea alone anyways.

On a different topic i just saw something that got the gears grinding on what it's actual useful purpose would be..
I seen this over at Sherrill..

Besides the fact that most instructions would ellude to this being a no-go, how are they even making it useful.. i would imagine 90% of the 26 inches would be hard as a rock.. Did they somehow do a ton of cover removal after the whipped area & create a super thin x-over? Maybe no x-over at all..? Wait, but then it would be all different widths.. I just dont see how anyone is using this as a hitch or even a 6 wrap prusik..... I've messed around with these shorter 16 strand E2E's & yeah, if coreless with no x-over i could see it being wrapped around a host rope, but the consensus has always been 16 strand has to have a x-over.. & with one it's stiff as a board.

I could see this e2e being coreless & sewn, but this splice dealio has got me scratching my head.

Think maybe they attempted to taper core and sheath for a bit of crossover just to say there’s a cross over? Unless they removed the core it seems Almost impossible by manufacturers instructions

@Pacafist; Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum! Congratulations on making your first post! I think you are going to like it here!

Splicers are a special breed, and we need more of them on this forum, so please feel free to keep jumping on in and contributing your thoughts. I look forward to reading more from you! Best regards.

Dynaglide - Double Brummell locked (fixed end method) with a taper and burry ****

1. Use a large blunt sewing needle for the splicing, makes it easier.
2. scissors, knife, or razor for tapering
3. pliers or Leatherman helps during thew burry

needle next to fid for reference- I still like to have a long tail for burry soI do a double length fid length of the smallest one I have,.

Decide the length of the eye you want and stick the needle through the line with 6 strands on each side.

Feed the line through the needle and pull through the line. Instead of Markers, I like to just kink the line.

Pulled through and up to the kinked point.

Push the needle through the line again so you can pull the EYE through the line to create the Locked Brummell -

After the eye is pulled through the line, you no have introduced a TWIST into the line or knot and we need remove it.

Here you can see the twist. Also that it is locked.

Pull the needle back through the bottom of the knot and insert the tail to pull through removing the twist.

Pull and smooth the knots and line firmly.

Bunch up the line so the needle is easily insertable.

Bunch up the line as far as you can on the needle.

Insert the line and continue to push.

Push until the tip is sticking out.

Use a pair of pliers to pull the needle through burying the tail.

Once pulled, bunch the line back up.

Fray the tail and taper it.

Cut about 6-7 strands tapering the end for a smooth transition once buried.

Pull the line back over burring the line.

Smooth it all out and you're done! Repeat on the opposite end if thats the plan.

dual spliced ends using the Locked Brummell fixed end termination method
then buried and tapered tail.

FYI - this is *basically* the same method for all 12 strand class 2 and class 1 ropes. Just need to make sure you are using the proper fid lengths.
