Show off them splices

I had some leftovers from other tools and figured I could use a monkey tail for spar work. I have 7 trees to go in my yard and this will be good for the poles. Spar work is my least favorite. Maybe a different technique will help. The biner is basically pointless unless the eye is not good enough for a stopper.
 
The one on the left is a locked brummel on one end and a regular brummel on the other. I made it before knowing that the tail on the second eye can be braided to form a locked brummel.
The middle one is made like the one on the right except a short section on cover is first added to the eye, Brion Toss calls it a dutchman's hat. There is a cover tail on each side of the eye that you can whip to the outside or they can be taped, tied down with thread, or woven into the locked brummel, and then the other cover put over it. It's best to use a thin cover for the eyes because it has to pass through the rope for the second locked brummel.

i love the red whipping twine,really makes it stand out over the lame white i use. i gotta get some different colors. i almost used the xtc fire for my friction saver cuz i got a sweet deal on 280 ft but i ended up selling it to my buddy, its much easier to splice than the arbormaster but i like the high break strength of samson ropes. how long is the saver? and how much did u crossover the ends? any special taper or is it just the usual for 16 strand?
 
My friction saver is 48 inches with a 12 inch crossover in the middle. I tapered following Nick's advice on the tree-u splicing Video. I removed 2 strands every 5 until I had 6 left. Then after the crossover I removed one of the 6 every inch for the final taper. It came out fairly uniform from end to end.

The whipping twine is Marlow no.4. it's smaller diameter and less wax than the bulk white stuff I bought first. Makes it easier to work with in my opinion.

My question for you guys on the whipping: I try to avoid splitting carrier strands on the cover as I push the needle through. It's hard to do as the needle goes in but almost impossible as I come out on the other side (especially with smaller cover stuff like hitch cord). Is this something you guys worry with or does it matter if the whipping comes through the middle of a cover strand?

i just got the tree u splicing series and nick seems to just get it done and doesnt worry about perfection, the whippings i see on gear i by from treestuff dont look as nice as what i see on here and do myself, they are producing a ton and we are taking our time and doing it with pride, but the result is the same, they work either way, one is just prettier

I NEED IT! he said its like F@!@$%in without a condom for the first time lol then he asked me to make him a bunch of ring slings and split tails, im starting to see the benefits of this lil hobby! not only have i saved a ton on my own gear but now im making money....to buy more gear...yes i have gear itis, im an addicted fool
