Show off them splices

so your the one who bought those ropes out from under me on ebay lol. i had them in my cart but when i looked again they were sold! i had to settle for some ultra vee cuz i wanted some bright lanyards with neon green to match my notch sentinel harness

That seller has some really good deals. They don't tell you what it is, but if you know the markings you can identify the animal.

My first attempt at this rope. I'm not sure how it will hold up as a lanyard, but I got it at a good price so it's worth trying out. Thanks to everyone who helped me out with the splice.

I like that you used the snap hook from the rollgliss.

one could say that I built this lanyard on a budget, as the rope was a clearance rope from wesspur, and I already had the snap hook, until you look at the new ART positioner...

removing the snaps from the rollgliss was one of the first things I did, I could not see an advantage to them getting hung up in a crotch in the tree.

I've finished the other end of my lanyard. The secondary end (distel hitch and carabiner) will remain fastened to my harness except when I need a second lanyard. The end primarily used will be the positioner and snap hook. Length from eye to eye is 20'

Feel free to critique anything that you see, I'm still learning this whole splicing thing.

Finished a tachyon today. It's pretty difficult stuff IMHO. There are three purple strands in the middle of the core. I am not sure what others do with them. I was concerned if I snipped them off they would ball up on the final bury, so I left them in and it worked out fine.

I used the inner core strands to stitch the splice at the crossover. Then I cut off the excess. Tachyon is not easy. I had to use mechanical assistance on the last inch of the bury.

Stitching the crossover with the purple strands sounds like a good idea. If you are anal about milking the core slack toward the throat of the splice, early on during the final bury, you shouldn't have to use mechanical assistance.

More tachyon splices. This is a friction saver with 70kn steel rings for bombing out of a tree. Lock stitched and whipped. I still needed mechanical assistance to get the last 1/2 inch burried. 15183174413141268367503.webp 1518317494503809497953.webp

You pull them out a bit and taper them. Like the core on a 16 strand. But also like a 16 strand they are not load bearing, and just there for shape and firmness

So do you pull them out where the cover enters the core, taper them and milk them back in? Makes sense to me.
