Show off them splices

is that armor prus? what splice did u use for them? and do u have any links to directions for the measurements for the 10mm, i have some i want to make E2E's
Yes, it is Armorprus. Someone on here, a while back contacted the maker to find out if it could be spliced with a class one double braid eye splice since technically it's labeled as class two. They basically said that it depends on the application. For prusik application it is acceptable to use the class one, but anywhere you are going to see end to end forces it needs to be class two.

So I have been using the class one with a 5454 taper. I have found it to be the most durable hitch cord that I have ever tried.

I had a pretty hard time. I don't enjoy 16 strand splicing like I enjoy 24, 12 and kernmaster splicing. I use #12 or 14 copper wire for a fid. I use electrical tape to secure the strands to the single length of wire.

To make the crossover bury easier, at the beginning, add a extra foot to the tail. Do the splice as normal until you come to the crossover. Reduce the volume of each of the six strands on the foot that was added. This will pull through easier and once through, you can pull on the tail instead of the fid to get the rest of the tail through.

Edit: reduce the each of the six strands by half.

I like wesspur's instructional video for 16 strand. They give great tips like, making sure that you don't snag any of the core fibers when you first instert the wire fid. Also to make sure you insert the fid on the opposite side of the rope from where the core has been extracted. If you take the time to set everything up, then it's not so blistering.

I used that...I thought I had everything set. But it was literally blistering as I had them on my hands from pulling, milking, pulling, pulling. I swore off any more ArborMaster splicing, but then got some of that and Bluestreak in a bag-o-rope, so I guess I gotta try again!

Just send it to me, ha ha. You know I would probably screw it up just for saying that. You can do it. Oh yeah and one more thing, make sure that the core fibers are tight before you try to pass them by with the cover strands. I think that was the reason I fared better this last time than previous trys.

The only reason I tried splicing 16 strand was because of a bag o rope purchase. I find it way too easy to buy scraps of climbing line on ebay for splicing. Ebay is dangerous for rope addicts. I am always stocking up on climbing line and accessory cord. Then again I do make everything from dog leashes to dock lines. I can justify my addiction to my wife this way.

View attachment 41501 Thanks ARLO!

Didn't even have to consult my go to person for them either. Both back to back and no mistakes lol. It's all about the taper prior to burying the core back into the rope. Wish I had carried that over from the Cougar.

how long was the peice you started with? and how long is the finished product? i have a 5ft piece i wanna make into an e2e with a ring

You are right but old habits die hard. As an Electrician I would mark conduit all the way around in pencil. This way I could see the mark from any angle. I would erase the mark after if the bend was visible. I know some splicers try and use a marker that more closely matches the rope color but all I have is black sharpies. I think I will try and taping the core exit next and then I can just remove the tape after the bury. All the other marks are burred in the splice. I have some 8mm OP on its way so I will make a few more tools out of that.

Idea - Keep your habits and pick up a fabric marker for sewing at any place that sells sewing supplies. Mark all you want, wipe it off with a damp cloth when you are done.
