We need a Fids, Fiber & Fur forum that requires a fuzzy animal in every splicing picture that's posted.

The taper is everything when it comes to breaking strength. I usually do a full fid on my double braids (almost always stable braid) but I think having one or two broken might give you enough of an answer to show them.I have a question to all splices? For a class 1 db, how long of a core taper from the throat of the splice down? I know some use a short fid, some use 1/3 fid, I use a long fid section. It is just under 2/3 of a fid. On kernmaster I use 5 inches, that is the most I can get before it is impossible. I ask because someone saw my splices and said shouldn't the taper be longer. I thought it was already longer than some specs.
That's really intense.Samson calls for 1/3 of a fid and I always felt that was the spot where it would break. I have had 9/16 polydyne break in a compound MA system and my splices held with no signs of stretching. I used a long fid for the taper. I had 75:1 in the system. It was tensioned with a rope puller into a 5:1 into a 5:1 into a 3:1. The polydyne was in the 3:1. Eventually the stump went flying after I reset the system with 5/8 tenex in the 3:1.
Will she chase a laser pointer?2.2mm zing it eye splice. Someone on here stressed the importance of having a second line and I agree. Here is my spare, ready to go. Now if I could only get Mia to climb up and set the line for me.
That splice is fire. You just need an animal in the picture.
