Show off them splices

New 10' lanyard from Vortex. Finally decided to try the Art positioner.
Looks great!

That's my favorite lanyard setup...Positioner and ISC swivel triple locking snap. I don't put a thimble in the other end - the positioner isn't sliding off over a regular tight eye.

Nice work! You should maybe think about not having such visiable measurement marks on the cover. It appears that you have done many splices and probably don't need such obvious marks as going all the way around the rope. Your splices are made professionally, they would look like it, too, without the marks. Whatever you decide, please continue to post pictures, again excellent work.

You are right but old habits die hard. As an Electrician I would mark conduit all the way around in pencil. This way I could see the mark from any angle. I would erase the mark after if the bend was visible. I know some splicers try and use a marker that more closely matches the rope color but all I have is black sharpies. I think I will try and taping the core exit next and then I can just remove the tape after the bury. All the other marks are burred in the splice. I have some 8mm OP on its way so I will make a few more tools out of that.

Using tape is a good idea. I've used a contrasting color of thread to make a small loop to mark where the core is coming out. An advantage of the tape is the exit point can be marked on it, instead of the rope, and easier then the thread.
