Class 1 double braid? I'm up for it!So today (it actually started last night) I met my match. I'm not the most proficient splicer going, but I like to think I'm somewhat competent and I've done tough splices before. However, this son of a bitch right here almost got the better of me. The body count: 4 hours, 3 blisters, 2 come-a-longs, 1 broken carabiner, and much patience....
Edelrid Direction Up. I challenge others to try it; there's a reason TreeStuff charges a premium for hand-spliced eyes on this rope compared to every other one they sell.

That was my mentality. Nick (Bonner) confirmed it is a class 1 dbl braid, but warned me the finish is hard. He wasn't shittin'. Good luck man.Class 1 double braid? I'm up for it!

It was an el cheapo Black Diamond non-locker from the local rock climbing store. It all happened so fast, but my guess is it got side loaded against the steel biner I was using to hold the eye tight. That is a perfect looking tight eye splice, & you're absolutely right ML, it doesn't look user friendly! But it sure turned out nice! How did you break a carabiner though? Was it a wire gate?
Have you spliced kernmaster? If so, how does it compare? So today (it actually started last night) I met my match. I have not, but if it's anything similar to this I'm never trying.Have you spliced kernmaster? If so, how does it compare?
So... how did you do it? It doesn't look like the "boomsling" if I remember correctly.View attachment 36604 Just finished this after 4 days thinking about how to do it..
I just played around with Ideas and just figured it out. The boom sling instructions did open up my eyes.So... how did you do it? It doesn't look like the "boomsling" if I remember correctly.
