I try to cut with both hands when practical and safe, and use one hand when it's practical and safe. The handsaw is the answer to alot of the one hand/two hand questions, as you guys obviously know. Same with two TIP's... 95% of the time it's TITS for me, but there are times, like jomoco has pointed out very articulately, where it's safer to get yo bad self out the way.

ya ima small guy so i use my handsaw for most until im dealing with like 15 cm diameter wood personaly like i said ima small guy so i never one hand the saw. at work im pushing for a back handle 200 because all we hear about is one handing for years and guys are still getting caught doing it today the saw is not designed to be a one handed saw so im tryin to eliminate that with the back handle saw just take the extra 2 minutes position yourself and you will be able to make the cut safely.
cheers!

When i hear someone say they always 2 hand the climbsaw,i automatically think they are a rookie, anyone who has been doing treework on a pro level for more than 6 months has one handed the climbsaw.I've done it countless time and i climb with a husky 51,usually with a 20" bar.I also agree with Jomoco,2 tie ins are okay in some situations,or even for a rookie operator, but for an experianced climber, its often not nessecary.

I can onehand an 088 with 60" bar, just ask me. Oh and I dont use a rope to climb, just use my other hand to hold on with. I define "pro"

anyone that says they one hand a chainsaw I assume has no skill and doesn't know how to use a work positioning lanyard, a handsaw, snap cuts and simple rigging. i work with 5 climbers that never one hand and they are some of the best in the biz.

i agree not to brag but im pretty good at what i do never really needed to one hand a saw like i said in my earlier thread most my finishing cuts are made with a handsaw NOT because im a rookie BUT because im a professional and im cautious with my job

Back to the tips, furniture moving pads used for moving heavy objects like a tv stand used for chunking down big wood. Get into it

The whole one handing a saw topic has been beat to death several times here.
I wont say I dont EVER do it because that'd be an outright lie, but when I do do it, I am very conscious of what Im doing, how im positioned, and am ready to expect the unexpected.
I would say that its not ALWAYS possible to use both hands, but then all those who say they never do it because they are such skilled climbers, would just point out how second rate my climbing abilities are and how great theirs are.

this idiot as you put it has climbed trees that have been dead for over 10 years.I think i'm competent enough to work as i see fit for the situation.

i wasnt in no way tryin to even hint that my skills are better than yours at all im sorry if i offended you i was just saying that there is absolutely no reason for anyone to one hand a saw at all period it is not designed to be a one handed saw i understand you trust yourself and your strength and your abilities but there are ways around it.

Believe me Mike, it would take alot more than that for you to offend me. None taken. I was speaking generally, not directly to you.
