Oh I have, but I don't believe I've ever found myself fooling around playing games with heavy equipment with people nearby. That's the difference. I'm all for having fun, but there's a line.

A better report I read indicated he was paying more attention to where the shadow was in relation to the shadow of his co-worker than the actual location of the grapple.

My insurance guy is out of the Brainerd area. He did some digging into this. Apparently the operating company didn't have any WC, and the guy who offed the other guy was their only CDL driver. Nightmare all around.

It seems like a lot of YouTubers think tree work is a game, laughing off their near misses, and joking around while they are unknowingly walking the razor's edge. Wonder if that way too casual attitude is makign it's way back into the field as we see in this tragic story, or if both are resulting from the attitudes of the new generations.

My mentors was rigging 40' oak limbs on true blue, so perfecty balanced that youcould push the but around with one finger, back before Youtube... maybe the pieces are just bigger than you;re used to... It's not the pieces that concern me, it's the lighthearted attitude with which these new guys are approaching the work. Seems like there is not much respect for the inherent danger of the job.
