Sequoia or Treemotion OG saddle?

I’ve used the Petzl Sequoia harness since 2014. Very happy with it. The Treemotion OG looks like it has good back support. Can anyone speak to either that has used both? Asking for a friend...

I’ve only owned my Sequoia SRT but I had a buddy who had a treemotion harness (can’t recall which one) who has also used my harness and he preferred the treemotion. I’ve never found a dislike with my saddle so I’ve not tried any others besides an old weaver which I didn’t care for. It’s worth noting that I don’t climb nearly as much as the other guys here and they will have far better opinions on the matter. Good luck!

I prefer the tree mo. I've had both. Using the Evo right now. And the back support is amazing and I have the monkey beaver suspenders they make so much better. Back pads comfortable leg pads comfortable. The whole saddle can be rebuilt. Amazing saddle

I tried on a Treemotion today and I noticed the belt strap was very thin, and seemed to dig into my waist more than the sequoia, as if the back pad didn’t come around the front as much. Anyone else experience this?

Sequoia is just so meh. Have owned 5 TMs on an evo now. Nothing compares to it TO ME. Owned a couple years ago. My son who is 9 climbed on one but I gave it to my other climber. He is getting the TM light.

You must be large size. They fit me like a glove. My waist is a 32.

No problem with my S. Light. (But I'm a 30 waist.)

Also if you had suspenders you wouldn't need the belt strap so tight.

Lots of proof and testimony for the TM, but was not the saddle for me. I climbed in an OG Sequoia for a few years then decided to jump on the TM wagon. Just couldn’t get it adjusted right and went back to the Sequoia. The second gen. Sequoia was garbage due to the buckles, IMO. The latest version has been pretty great and can’t really see myself looking to change it up. Only way you will know is to try one out.

I am a Sequoia fan, as much as I like the idea of a TreeMotion, and recommend the TM to all the new climbers I’ve trained, I personally find the Sequoia to be a better fit for me.

There’s many great saddles on the market, pick the one that fits you the best. You’re the one who has to wear it all day, in the end that’s what matters, not what someone else may think about your choice.

I never did like my Sequoia and was uncomfortable in it for years. Switched to a Monkeybeaver and love it. All day comfort and can carry a big saw with no suspenders.

As @Reach mentioned, there are lots of options and as shown by this thread, saddle preference is a personal choice.

I appreciate all of the input, thanks folks! Unfortunately I live in an area where the only access to climbing gear is online. Just gotta wing it!
I know how that is. A couple of Stihl dealers carry a few arborist odds and ends, but their inventories are less extensive than my personal inventory. Stores that have rock climbing equipment aren't much better either.

Was it the Evo or the OG or Super Lite TM? My OG TM belt is finally getting worn out enough to hurt at the hips after long hours on it. Just needs a new belt pad. The second gen Sequoia I had dug into my hips on a long day wen it was new. But that raises a question, is there a belt pad replacement option for the current Sequoia or is it a "throw away the harness" situation when the belt padding wears?

Throw away. It really is a poorly thought out saddle. Sits like a girdle.....hated the silly thing. My son's new gen is piss poor too.

Tree Motion all the way. The way the lower D's are attached makes flipping up a tree much more comfy and you can customize it to the moon and back. Just get monkey beaver suspenders for crane day.

That new Edge 2 from Sherrill and Buckingham looks nice. I’m a few years out from needing a new saddle though.
