I see you too are interested in this exciting piece of hardware. Well, as mundane and unexciting as screw links can be, maybe there's still some helpful things about them.
These have come to be my favorites. The delta is a 10mm zicral an aluminum alloy. It is very lightweight and from all the use I've put it through, durable and rugged. It has a WLL of 3860 lbs. The left and center ones are 7mm SS standard (1985 lbs wll) and long (1760 lbs wll) ovals. I have used smaller and larger sizes but these are the ones that came to the top.
Notice the huge difference in gate openings between the standard and long ovals. That wide gate provides additional versatility.
Here they are shown in comparison to PI noodle rope. Notice the standard won't even start to install and the long has about a 1/4" to spare.
And believe it or not, this is something I've been looking for in a screw link for a while - double duty as a strong, compact, robust connector and an adjustable wrench! It can be screwed down like an adjustable wrench to snug and loosen gates should they need more than normal. And notice here it is on a screw link much larger than itself and it fits the nut with room to spare. I think it’s a smart piece of hardware to stick on the belt!
